Often referred to as the female Bob Dylan, Patti Smith is, by all accounts, a living legend. The recent inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (she was nominated eight times) first crashed onto the music scene more than 30 years ago with her incendiary free-form poetry of sound. Now, Smith – whose cover of Van Morrison’s “Gloria” on her 1975 debut Horses helped launch her career – has released her first full album of covers, aptly titled Twelve.
