One of the greatest things about Los Angeles is that we can have fun in the great outdoors no matter what time of year it is. That includes Downtown Culver City Third Wednesdays, a once-a-month block party where everyone’s invited whether it’s summer or not. Here it is explained in five easy steps.
1. What exactly are Third Wednesdays?
On the third Wednesday of every month, restaurants and businesses in CC’s downtown area open their doors with drinking and dining specials, free samples and discounts. Art galleries stay open late and outdoor entertainment hits the streets with cool bands, chalk artists and the Jack FM street team.
2. What’s special about Downtown Culver City?
Culver City’s downtown area is one of SoCal’s best-kept secrets! The pedestrian-friendly area is a great mix of great restaurants, cool shops, galleries and historic buildings. (Weird history tidbit: The Culver Hotel–once owned by Charlie Chaplin who allegedly sold it to John Wayne for $1 after losing a poker game–was where those crazy Munchkins from “The Wizard of Oz” infamously held sex orgies … Ridonk!)
3. What other kinds of events will be going on if folks head down there on a Third Wednesday?
More than 30 restaurants and merchants have special offers lined up, from cheap margaritas at Kay & Dave’s to Frank Sinatra Karaoke at LaRoccos, plus deals at Akasha, Rush Street, Culver Hotel, Kirk Douglas Theatre and Pacific’s Stadium 12.
4 . What are the hours?
The third Wednesday of every month from 5pm to 9pm.
5. How do people get there?
Just head over to the corner of Culver Boulevard and Main Street. Parking is free in the public structures for up to two hours, or valet parking is available at three locations–check the website for details.
