The economy sucks. But that doesn’t mean your nightlife has to suffer. Basement Tavern at the Victorian’s “Wooden Nickel Local Mondays” is here to help.  Just show a valid ID with any Santa Monica or Venice zip code and you’ll get a wooden nickel redeemable that night for a 5¢ beer or one of the bar’s signature $10 cocktails.

If you’re not a local, the “First Sunday” theme parties are another way to have fun on the cheap.  May 1st’s  “Boogie Nights” was the inaugural bash with specialty cocktails and disco-style attire encouraged, so you get the idea. Themes will be announced each month via the Basement Tavern Facebook page, so keep an eye out and some change in your pocket.
