And you thought Carnaval was your last chance to see barely-dressed Brazilians shaking it up right before your eyes. Oh ye of little faith. Bale Folclorico de Bahia–the only professional folk dance company in Brazil–is ready to give audiences a jolt with “Sacred Heritage,” a primal mix of Bahian folkloric dance, eye-popping acrobatics, capoeira stunts and Carnaval-inspired dances that blend the ancient and the contemporary. The colorful costumes, infectious live beats, and collective singing trace African slave traditions, indigenous Brazilian religious movements, and Portuguese colonialism.
Saturday, March 12th @ Wilshire Ebell Theatre, 4401 West 8th Street, Los Angeles, 90005. 8pm, $25-$65.
