We might not yet be a food truck nation, but Los Angeles for one is a city obsessed with meals on wheels. And being that I’m Mexican I can’t help but feel connected to this mobile food movement that dates back more than a century ago to LA's horse-drawn tamale carts. I love the current food truck movement and the many different flavors it brings. And although I’ve yet to find the perfect taco truck, here are seven trucks in LA that I'm really digging right now.

It was only a matter of time before food truck mania coalesced with "Amazing Race" fervor. Enter the first-ever Munchathon, a food-themed 5k run/walk and obstacle course featuring local food trucks. Taking place on Saturday, July 16 at Oak Canyon Park overlooking Irvine Lake, the event is where you can literally eat and run.

Food trucks have long been an intrinsic part of the LA food culture, and now our neighbors in the Inland Empire will literally get a taste of the gourmet food truck action at the first annual IE Food Truck Fest on Saturday, June 18.

If you like a good clustertruck, you're gonna love the TruckIt Fest going on Sunday, April 3 (and every first Sunday of the month) at Union Station. The landmark location is the new home to this monthly event featuring over 35 LA food trucks, 200 local designers and vendors, live bands, DJs and, of course, face stuffing.
