Brand-New App: Napk-In
As much as I love social media, I’m not the kind of person who’s always downloading the latest app. However, several months ago I was asked to be part of the beta-testing group for Napk-in, a brand-new foodie app that serves as a personalized digital dining diary that documents what you love to eat. The app is now available for FREE download on iOS with plans for Android soon. (I use a Samsung Galaxy, which is why I downloaded it on my iPad mini.) Read on for a little show & tell of how it works …
The first thing you do is take a photo of your food. There are a few filters to choose from and I love that you have the option to save it for later by hitting the “Wanna eat first!” button.
Through your wipes and swipes, you choose from tags that range from flavors, ingredients and region to food temperature (!), cooking method and price range.
Within each of these tags are multiple choices. Simply hold down your finger and the selections pop up like little bubbles. (Marpop!) I love the percolating sound effects and it’s pretty cool swiping back and forth through all of them.
Napk-in lets you search the food you want by selecting and combining these tags. You can also add extra tags like “Dining Alone” or “With Friends” or “Business” from the Advanced Options category.
Once you’ve made your selections, your latest food discovery will be part of your profile history.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a full food experience if you can’t share what you actually thought of the food. You can score your dining experience from “100% Awesome” to “Not Good.” The more you tag, the more accurate your food profile will be and soon you can join me as a Verified Food Guru. Happy eating!

I will try this app, thanks Mar. I am no longer impressed with Yelp and all the negative reviews from people I don’t even know. Better to have content from trusted sources.
You have to give them credit for a great design.. looks pretty slick!
Coming from a Senior Information Architect, that’s a big compliment!
