Mar Yvette at Concha Beach in San Sebastian, Spain

We Planned a 30-Day Trip to San Sebastian, Spain, But Left After 10 Days

Donostia-San Sebastian, Spain, has long been known as a desired destination for travelers worldwide. It’s home to Concha Beach, considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe, and multiple Michelin-starred restaurants. (Anthony Bourdain featured this famed gastronomic hub three times on his shows.)

So, it’s not surprising that my husband and I thought it was going to be an amazing month enjoying the sights and tastes of this smaller, seaside alternative to over-touristed Barcelona and Madrid.

We walked the promenade multiple times, tried out the tapas and pinxto bars all around, hopped on a tour bus, and even took a day trip to Bilbao, a much larger port city where we visited the Guggenheim museum.

Still, after 10 days, we had to decide: Should we stay in San Sebastian, Spain, or go back to Bordeaux and Paris?

San Sebastián is beautiful, but I understand your point. Sometimes it’s perfect for a short stay, not a whole month. Bordeaux and Paris definitely offer more variety.

Hi Jose! Thanks for leaving a comment. I love that you found a place you consider heaven on earth! While there was a lot to admire about San Sebastian, for me it simply was enough to have a short visit. Traveling is such a privilege, and it’s a true joy when you find a place that you love.
