Culinary Tour of Thai Town
Thai New Year is coming up, so what better place to visit on my latest Out & About adventure than Thai Town in Hollywood? Along with internationally renowned chef and hometown culinary hero Chef Jet Tila, we visited some of Jet’s favorite spots (and those he shared with Anthony Bourdain on “No Reservations”) including Siam Sunset Restaurant, the only place you can get Thai breakfast at 6am – omg LOVEZ the Thai donuts, INCREDZ ginger tofu broth (delicious kick!) and Sam the owner & his whole staff who are SO NICE I JUST WANNA TAKE ‘EM ALL HOME TO SQUEEZE!!! We also checked out Bhan Kanom Thai, which literally translates to “House of Thai Desserts” — and oh, was it ever! It’s like the Thai version of Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory, only not so much chocolate and a whole lotta preserved and exotic fruit treats – more than 500 different kinds of desserts! And then there was Bangkok Market, the first Thai market in the history of America that was opened by Jet’s family. Of course, I had to have some Thai musicians & a dancer (all the way from Thailand!) randomly placed in the grocery aisle … #LOVEZ!
