Get Some Serious BBQ & Bluegrass This Summer

Yeehaw! If you think you can’t get real-deal, rib-stickin’, finger-lickin’ country ‘cue in the middle of the city, think again. Celeb chef & meat maestro Adam Perry Lang has created Serious BBQ, a summertime pop-up barbecue experience in the backlot of the Jimmy Kimmel Show! (How very Hollywood.) The outdoor space is loaded with custom smokers, handmade charcoal (he makes it every morning starting at 2am), a food truck (that stays parked), an Airstream (which he lives in three days a week) and a giant carving station where Adam and his crew slice up his famed short ribs and other smoked meats with a steel machete he crafted.

The best part: He donates 25% of everything he sells to charity and every Friday he and his volunteers feed the homeless.

I met Adam while volunteering at the LA Food Bank a couple of weeks ago and he invited me to come hang out with him at this crazy spot and sure enough, I loved it. He even BBQ’d some chicken for me (a first for him) and once I tasted it I knew I had to do a segment with this guy. So that’s what we did. Of course, I had to make it a party, so I invited LA’s favorite indie bluegrass trio Fiddle & Pine to cook up some fun tunes with their catchy choruses and foot stomping grooves. By the end of the morning, we were all square dancing.

The BBQ pop-up runs through September 5 and is open ONLY on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 11am to 3pm. Yes, the hours suck for most working people, but it’s sooo worth skipping out of the office for this. Serious!

I have tried my share of great bbq and this is some of the finest I have ever had. Melts in your mouth, shredded to perfection. Nice work, Mr Perry-Lang. Expensive, hell yes. Worth it? Every last penny.
