Feathers, Glitter & Good Times!
Believe it or not, I was the Grand Marshal of the Hollywood Carnival Parade, which celebrates the Caribbean culture here in the United States. The festivities took place on Saturday, June 23, and it was totally hilarez! Even though I’m not of Caribbean descent, everyone was so welcoming and warm and wildly fun. (FYI, there were plenty of Latinos represented from Bolivia, El Salvador and even Mexico, since it was also a multicultural celebration.) I have to say, from the hundreds of people who were in the parade to the thousands of spectators who lined Hollywood Boulevard, I’ve learned one thing: Caribbeans know HOW TO PARTY!!
It was so fun, but unfortch I didn’t get to capture many photos–I was too busy trying to keep my enormous feathery headress from falling off my head (it windy that day) while waving at everyone. After the 2.5 mile route (at a whopping 5mph), crowds converged at Carnival Village where plenty of food, live music and oh yes, half naked people awaited! See you next year, mon!
