Eat @ FEED Body & Soul
So I checked out the new FEED Body & Soul restaurant on Abbot Kinney and I have to say I’m glad I did! The food here is very healthy and low fat as in NO butter, NO refined or even cane sugar, no white flour, virtually no dairy except for one dish that has a yogurt sauce on the side and lots of gluten-free stuff along with rotisserie salmon, chicken and bison. (Yes, bison.) Chef Matthew Dickson is hardcore about clean ingredients. As for the cocktail list–it’s fantastic. (And also hardcore.) I asked for a drink with like half an ounce of liquor instead of the standard 2 oz and the guy was like, No way. It’ll compromise the whole balance of the cocktail. Ha! (Granted, I’m not a drinker, but I couldn’t resist taking a sip of my friend’s Pineapple Curry mezcal drink – wow!) All the drinks are made with 100% organic ingredients (fresh herbs, fruits, juices…) as is most of the menu. As soon as I walked in the front door the invigorating scent of fresh fruits and vegetables being juiced wafted through the air. Nice. The space itself is huge and totally gorg and cool in that Abbot Kinney earthy-designer sort of way. Kinda reminds me of True Food Kitchen (one of my faves) and Tavern in Brentwood with the pretty enclosed patio in the back. As for the dishes, I tried every kale salad they have. If you love citrus and tangy, you MUST do the citrus kale salad with apples – OMG!! I had to get two servings! (They salt-rub their kale so it’s not so rough.) I say, check it out–they’re open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They also do a lot of homemade sauces (using cauliflower as a base for many of them?!) and a DELISH tomatillo salsa at the table. Yum!
