Hot Stuff: La Muerte Vive Comes Alive
Translated as “the dead live,” La Muerte Vive is a rock opera-meets-cabaret theatrical extravaganza celebrating the traditions of the Mexican holiday Dia de los Muertos. This year La Muerte Vive presents “Apocalypto: The Awakening,” on Friday, November 2 at the historic and recently restored Palace Theatre in Downtown LA. The show aims to be an explosion of color, culture–and maybe even a little camp–with the nation’s largest collection of giant judas (paper mache puppets), dramatic storytelling, eye-popping art, fiery music and sexed-up dancing. Hosted by bandleader Santos de Los Angeles, the party will also include special performances from Quinto Sol and burlesque beauties Miss Ruby Champagne, Paula Baby Alvarez and Violet Valentine.
Friday, November 2, 7pm-11pm @ The Palace Theatre, 630 S. Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90014. Tickets $2o-$45 (VIP).
