Shazam! It’s Lighting in a Bottle

Think of it as Burning Man, but not nearly as dirty.

If you want a real jolt this Memorial Day Weekend, you must head out to the Do Lab’s 6th Annual Lightning in a Bottle festival. The four-day, three-night celebration is when music, dance, art, fun and green living converge at the sprawling 100-acre Oak Canyon Ranch in Silverado, California. (Yeah, I’d never heard of the town either, but it’s actually Orange County.)

Starting at 4pm on May 27 and going until Sunday evening on May 30, everyone (including kids) is invited to the spectacle which promises loads of larger-than-life art installations, tons of children’s activities, live vaudeville performances by Lucent Dossier, and Lightning in a Paintcan, where local artists transform oversized mural panels into paintings. There will also be three stages with live performances by Pretty Lights, a DJ set by Thievery Corporation, Beats Antique and Fool’s Gold among many others, organic food vendors, green living workshops, dance sessions, yoga classes and about a million other things. Advance tickets start at $195 for a three-day pass.
