Just say yes to California wine!

Sip & Swirl: California Wine Month

Did you know that September is California Wine Month? As the producer of more than 90 percent of all wine made in the United States, California is one of the first places that comes to mind when we think about wine. (“Sideways” and “Bottle Shock,” anyone?) Which means it’s the perfect time to try some of our state’s fine vintages. Here are a handful of places around the LA area that are celebrating California Wine Month with a few special deals.

Corkbar – Downtown LA (@Corkbar)
This downtown wine bar has partnered with the Wine Institute to offer a rotating series of flights exploring the nuances of California wines. Every week in September features a new specialty flight with a specific varietal, growing region, or style of California wine-making. Flights ($10-$15) include four 1.5 ounce pours. You can also get two of the bar’s most popular menu items–including the Corkbar Burger–paired with one of the owner’s favorite California wines for a set price of $22 (regularly $28).

Glance – JW Marriott LA Live (@JWLALIVE)
Free wine! Each Wednesday in September from 5:30pm to 7pm, this wine bar will feature a guest California winemaker who will host a complimentary wine tasting. It’s an awesome (and free!) way to taste and learn about a few of the vineyard’s varietals and enjoy a selection of light bites. The events are completely complimentary and were created in the spirit of exploring and learning about new California wines and vineyards.

Napa Valley Grille – Westwood (@NVGWestwood)
Partnering with the Wine Institute, NVG is offering a handful of different things to get you in the vino spirit in September. Vertical Wine Bistro – Pasadena (@VerticalBistro)
There are multiple celebrations going on at Pasadena’s favorite wine bistro. Not only is it Vertical’s five-year anniversary, but in honor of California Wine Month, you can get $15 carafes of wine every day in September. Thursday Burger Night, Friday Oyster Night and All-Day Happy Hour Sundays are ideal times to enjoy a meal with wine pairings.

Cafe Del Rey – Marina Del Rey (@CafeDelRey)
There’s a wine tag sale going on at this seaside Mediterranean restaurant in Marina del Rey all month long in September. Select bottles of Golden State wines can be bought at a special reduced price for anyone dining at the restaurant. (Trust–you’ll want to eat here. The food is to live for!)

Grand Del Mar – San Diego (@TheGrandDelMar)
Forget just September. How about celebrating til November? From now until November 30, Amaya restaurant at the Grand Del Mar is offering 50 wines under $50.
