Moulin Rouge + Mar Yvette

For The Record: Baz Lurhmann

Step right up! Welcome to the Moulin Rouge! A fabulous eye-and ear-candy of a show, For the Record is a musical series that takes on some of today’s coolest movie soundtracks and translates them into full-on interactive multi-sensory experiences. And from now until the end of May, it’s all about Baz Lurhmann. (Past shows have paid homage to fan Quentin Tarantino and the late John Hughes.)

Celebrating the avant-mashups of Lurhmann’s three most famous films–Moulin Rouge, Romeo + Juliet, and Strictly Ballroom–the show is a feast of colorful costumes, top-notch singers (many from Broadway), and dancing on the ceiling.  Well, almost … the cast is known to dance on the bar. You can catch the show at Barre Vermont, a cabaret-style venue inside Vermont Restaurant/Rockwell in Los Feliz. (Which is great, ’cause you can order food and drinks while enjoying the show.)

Shows are selling out, so best buy your tickets soon. But before then, take a peek of the show as performed on “Good Day LA” right here.

Thursday-Sunday til end of May @ Barre Vermont, 1714 N Vermont Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90027. Tickets $20 + food and drinks.
