FOX ADHD: Crazy-Ass Cartoons
Dinosaur cops, screwy ducks and other naughty characters abound at Fox’s new Animation Domination High-Def studios in Hollywood. I recently stopped by to go behind the scenes and it was cool to see that unlike most of the network’s other animated shows like “Family Guy” or “The Simpsons,” none of the work is shipped overseas — everything is created in house from start to finish.
Sort of like network TV’s answer to cable’s Adult Swim, the new cartoon lineup airs every Saturday at 11pm on FOX. The two main shows are “Axe Cop,” which follows an axe-wielding cop who only eats birthday cake and flies to Dinosaur Planet and fights Dr. Doo Doo, and “High School USA,” which is kinda like “American Pie” in cartoon form.
There’s also tons of content on the Fox ADHD site and while I’m definitely not the target audience for this stuff, the “Scientifically Accurate…” series did grab my attention. Click on “Scientifically Accurate Spider-Man” and you’ll see what I mean. Aside from the initial shock & awe, it actually has some educational merits — once you see/hear some of the things in this video, you can’t help but Wiki everything to verify that this stuff is really true. Who knew crass cartoons could make you smarter?
