Shop Local @ Unique LA
Never mind Black Friday and Cyber Monday. It’s all about conscious consumerism at the Unique LA Holiday 2011 shopping and socializing spectacular going on all weekend long at the California Market Center in Downtown LA. The largest “Made in America” indie shopping event in the country, Unique LA is a one-stop shop for curated design, fashion and art with 325+ vendors (more than 90% are based in LA) selling everything from incredible hats (love the looks from Pooka Queen!) and wood ties (yes, as in men’s ties made from reclaimed wood) to soaps, stationary, kids clothes, home decor, jewelry, pet stuff and just about anything else you never imagined. It’s like Etsy come to life.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a party unless there were free booze flowing, snacks at every turn and a DJ keeping spirits alive. Did I mention the DIY craft stations including a how-to on the perfect holiday gift bow? (Sign me up!) And in the true season of giving, 10% of all ticket sales goes to 826LA, a non-profit dedicated to supporting students ages 6 to 18 with their creative and expository writing skills. LOVEZ.
Saturday, December 3 & Sunday, December 4, 11am-6pm @ California Market Center 110 E 9th Street, Los Angeles, CA 90079. Admission is $10 (kids under 12 are free) and includes collectible tote bag.
